“Dr. Schoifet reviewed my X-rays, discussed my left knee issues and presented treatment options to me on my first office visit. I decided to have a left knee replacement due to the fact that my work and life style were negatively impacted by my left knee deterioration. Since I was working as a nursing professor, my appointments were scheduled around my teaching schedule so that there was no conflict and I could complete all of my preoperative requirements. My surgery was done on April 3, 2017 and Dr. Schoifet checked on me the day of my surgery and the day of discharge. My postoperative recovery has gone extremely well and it was reassuring to know that I could call anytime if there was an issue and I needed assistance. I am currently starting the last week of my physical therapy and I am confident that I will have full return of mobility for my left knee over time.
As a health care provider myself, I must comment on the fact that this is my second knee replacement by Dr. Schoifet. My right total knee was done on June 4, 2012. I can see that he is constantly changing the treatment protocol in order to achieve better outcomes for his patients. As an example, I had a foley catheter postoperatively over night for my first surgery. This time there was no foley postoperatively. I am confident that Dr.
Schoifet implemented this change due to current best practices. The rationale for no catheter provides the benefits of early ambulation to void and prevents the possibility of infection due to an indwelling foley catheter.
My experience with Dr. Schoifet has been exceptional and I am extremely happy with the outcome of my surgery.

“I had my left knee done first. I had an easy 2 week recovery at home. The nurse and physical the therapist came to my home 3 times a week. I was driving in 2 weeks using a cane if I felt I needed it, which was not often.
Four months later I did my right knee. It was the same as with my left knee, the nurse and therapist came to my home. I was allowed to drive in 4 weeks and had no trouble.
At home you are given pain meds so you are comfortable, and able to talk to doc when you need him. The follow up appointments were very informative and the staff very helpful.
