“I'm a lucky man. I found Dr.Aaron Forbes. I had been hobbling around for the better part of 2 years always thinking my right leg would get better. I finally went to pain management where I got a couple of shots and an x-ray. It was stated that I had a severely arthritic right hip and I should see an orthopedic surgeon. I did my homework and realized that the best orthopedic doctors were at Tri-county. Continuing to do my homework I studied the operation (watched it on YouTube...dont do it if you have a weak stomach) and decided the way to go was the direct anterior method. Luckily I chose Dr. Forbes. I am 72 years old and all I really wanted was to be able to walk without pain, play with the grandchildren, do a little yard work, swing a golf club, walk the dogs. Dr. Forbes looked at my x-ray, said: "you need a new hip." And that was that. I saw much bone on bone x rays on the internet, looked at my x-ray and they were identical. He told me it would be good to lose a little weight and do as much exercise as possible. I did both. My operation was scheduled for Aug 1. I walked into Morristown Memorial in great pain and 1 day later walked out with a cane Had some surgical pain but nothing that Tylenol couldn't handle. I did what Dr. Forbes told me to do. Do a few exercises and walk as much as possible. Everything that he told me would happen did happen exactly the way he said it would. Within 2 weeks I was walking 3 miles a day. He begrudgingly gave me permission to drive as it was the right hip and you have to be careful. After 6 weeks he sent me to Physical Therapy which I thought I could avoid. But he was right. I joke that after 2 PT sessions the only thing that didn't hurt me was my hip. But that went great and I am now through with the PT. I do the exercises given to me daily. I went back to work after a little more than 5 weeks. I probably could have gone earlier but he did not want me to push it. Today I had my appointment with the Doctor. Everything great. I'll see him in a year. Dr. Forbes really gave me my life back and I am forever thankful to him. When it comes time for my knees he will be my surgeon. Now I would like to dispel some other things about Tri-County. I have had 5 visits there. Never was I treated in any way other than respectfully. Never did I have to wait more than 5-10 minutes to get called into the doctor's office. And once there I didn't wait more than 5 minutes for an x-ray or to see the doctor. My primary doctor keeps me waiting longer than that all the time. All the people I dealt with, for ins and paperwork including Martha and Courtney were great. I thank you all...Don't want to do it again in any hurry but it was a great experience.”
