The following are reviews from patients of Dr. Westerheide.
“I'm thrilled with my custom knee replacement. When first reading an article about Dr. Westerheide and this procedure in The Dispatch, I was interested in making an appointment to find out if it could work for me. All of my questions answered at my initial meeting, and I felt confident, continuing with Dr. Westerheide and the New Albany Surgical Center. I had an MRI completed at the Surgical Center so that my custom knee replacement could be over about six weeks. I had my surgery on April 10th, and I have (in about six weeks) returned to nearly all of my normal activities! If surgery can be an enjoyable experience, then this comes close!”

“The experience was what I expected, professional. Dr. Westerheide’s assistant was beneficial in providing information. While I have not yet had surgery, it is only a matter of timing.”
– William B.
“I had a very positive experience. Dr. Westerheide is very competent, qualified, and helpful. I'm so glad he was my doctor when I had a reverse shoulder replacement on my left arm.”

“Dr. Westerdeide was as amazing. He made sure he told my family and me exactly what was happening and what was the best for me! I would recommend him to anyone, excellent doctor and staff at Orthopedic Specialist.”

“My surgery was March. I was so pleased with Dr. Westerheide and with his P.A. Gerald. They truly do care about their patients. I was impressed with Dr. Westerheide as he planned for a meeting with all the patients that were to have surgery. There were no surprises. He covered everything. He answered everyone's questions. I continue to do the exercises through their therapy department. The therapy department is excellent. I would not go anywhere else for therapy ever again because of how I was treated and how concerned they were that I get all my ROM back and that I was comfortable with my progress. They told me that it would take a year to get ROM back and that is pretty much on schedule. I will probably always do the strengthening exercises they gave me to keep on top of any future problems I could have. I am pleased with everything through this doctor's office.”

“Many years ago, I sustained a severe leg fracture after I lost a match between me as a pedestrian and a car traveling on a roadway in Cleveland. Over the years I developed knee problems in the same leg, mostly because the leg did not heal in a straight manner and I remained athletically involved. After two arthroscopic surgeries, the last of which was performed by Dr. Westerheide previously, my knee finally reached the end of its functional life. I researched many options (stem cells, more shots, etc.) and eventually decided to have it replaced. I learned about the Conformis approach which manufactures the replacement knee to match the specific design of the patient's knee. At the time (and maybe still), Dr. Westerheide was the only surgeon in Central Ohio who was using this knee replacement method. I met with Dr. Westerheide and his Physician Assistant Gerald Inks, and we discussed in great detail the surgery and recovery process. Eventually, the operation was performed at the New Albany Surgery Center in September. Immediately I began physical therapy at OSSM which I continued for several months. Unfortunately, I fell among the approximately 5% of total knee replacement patients who develop excess scar tissue that limits leg flexion and extension and had to have a manipulation under anesthesia procedure is done to break up the excess scar tissue. I resumed physical therapy and had been making steady progress towards achieving proper leg flexion and extension. Dr. Westerheide, PA Gerald Inks, the support staff at the office, and the physical therapists at OSSM have been wonderful to work with, are very supportive and responsive to my questions and other needs. I recommend them highly!”

“Friendly, knowledgeable staff, including Physical Therapy and Dr. Westerheide, never seemed rushed but took the time to discuss my problem thoroughly. I appreciate that. Kelsey and Ian in the Physical Therapy clinic provided excellent care. Their advice on continuing exercises at home and how to avoid re-injuring has been invaluable. My thanks to all.”

“Dr. Westerheide did arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder. Surgery went very well, he explained everything to my wife. She was most impressed! Recovery went very well. I went to physical therapy and everyone there was very professional. My shoulder is doing fine and getting a lot of my range of motion back. I would recommend Orthopedic Specialists & Sports Medince. Also there physical therapists and assistants are number one!”

“I have had three surgeries that Dr. Westerheide has done. He is very thorough and charming to deal with. He always takes the time to answer all my questions. My operations all went very well.”
