“Dr. Richard Smith was highly recommended to me by a top official at UT Hospital, and wow, he was precisely the right choice! He had to do a complicated surgical re-do of a hand surgery /fingers that got botched and made my hand mostly unusable. He fixed it perfectly and it looks good where before it looked deformed! I am thrilled with the results. He is the best Orthopedic Man for hands that I and my family and friends have ever experienced. We recommend him all the time. His staff is excellent—the office staff and especially Dr. Smiths Nurse—Michelle Witherspoon is excellent too. Both Dr. Smith and Michelle are compassionate and caring professionals and have great reports with their patients. Satisfied!”

“Love him! Very professional to the point. Kind and that is important to me be kind. He never pushed for me to have the surgery for carpal tunnel. He continued to do the injections until I was ready. I appreciated that. The surgery went great. I am so glad I had it done.”

“I tried to stop the blade on my operating table saw with my hand. Bad idea! A surgeon in West Texas attempted to save my fingers. I saw the X-rays of my hand after surgery there. The X-rays indicated my middle finger was repairable. I went into therapy after the hand had time to heal. Before my treatment was complete in Texas, I relocated to East Tennessee for the summer and continued therapy there. After a few therapy sessions, my therapist said the joint just did not feel right & asked me to see an orthopedic surgeon before she continued. I was able to get an appoint with Dr. Richard Smith quickly. It helped that he had performed surgery on my other hand the summer before. Bottom line: the joint was severely damaged that therapy had finished the job the saw started; the joint was now completely gone. I saw the X-ray myself and immediately concurred with Dr. Smith that it needed drastic repair. I wanted to just cut it off at the joint, but Dr, Smith recommended splicing the bone together because I would lose the gripping power with that finger if he removed it. I was in surgery in less than a week. I still have the finger. I highly recommend Dr. Richard Smith for all your hand problems.”
