Patient Reviews

The following are reviews from patients of Dr. Greenleaf.

“I can't find enough words to express how great Dr. Greenleaf is. He is so kind and compassionate and one of the best doctors I've ever encountered. He changed my life. I'm 31 years old and had a two level fusion done one my lower back. I lived with so much pain prior to my surgery and I got to the point where I couldn't sleep for more than a couple hours at night. I got the surgery in October and I'm off all the pain meds and I've even started to golf again. I highly recommend Dr. Greenleaf. My experience was second to none with him and his staff. He changed me life!”

“I only wish I had met Dr. Greenleaf after I had my automobile accident a year and a half ago. I have gone to many doctors who have to mislead me about several MRI’s regarding the severe back pain I have experienced after the three-car accident. I felt confident in Dr. Greenleaf’s analysis of my MRI. I would recommend him to many in the future.”

“I had suffered from back pain for about ten years. Eventually, it severely limited my activity and became an authentic quality of life issue. I had tried physical therapy, chiropractic care, and other exercises. As a ballet teacher, my career was in jeopardy. With a diagnosis of spinal stenosis, which caused severe sciatica pain and spondylolisthesis, it at first thought that I should undergo spinal fusion. However, Dr. Greenleaf preferred to take a more. Conservative approach, believing that my pain was a result of the stenosis. On July 3rd he performed a laminectomy. I walked out of the surgery center without pain and have remained pain-free and able to resume my teaching, gardening, and general housework. As a bonus from my increased activity since the surgery, I have lost fifteen pounds, and at 81 feel better than I have in many years. I am very grateful for the excellent care I received from Dr. Greenleaf and the entire Reconstructive Orthopedics Staff.”

“Vincent had to get an X-ray while he was there. The tech came to get him and was told he was legally blind, could not hear good, had a fractured back, and could not stand without help. They didn't listen to me and stood him up for the X-ray and walked away from him. He fell. He is causing him more pain than he already had. They never told me what happened. He has been mostly bedridden since then because of the severe pain.”

“In June, I hurt my back doing light yard work. The pain increased over the next few weeks, and I finally went to a well-known orthopedic group. After taking an X-ray, they prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication. The medication provided no relief, and I went to Reconstructive Orthopedics for a second opinion. An MRI revealed two herniated discs. Dr. Ahsan suggested starting with a conservative approach and, hoping to avoid back surgery, I readily agreed. Unfortunately, several rounds of epidural steroid injections provided only temporary relief. As the pain progressed, it began significantly impact my quality of life; I was unable to do simple tasks around the home and soon walking or standing for even brief periods grew very painful. As the pain became debilitating, it got determined that the best course of action would be to consult an orthopedic surgeon. I researched and sought references for the best orthopedic surgeons in the area. Dr. Robert Greenleaf’s name kept coming up as the right choice. I made an appointment to meet with him, and concurrently made an appointment with another well-respected surgeon so that I would have two opinions from which to choose. As luck had it, Dr. Greenleaf had the first available date for an appointment. When my wife and I met him, it was clear that he had reviewed my MRI before our arrival and was completely aware of my medical condition. He attentively listened to my description of where I was experiencing pain, and then brought up my MRI on his monitor. He showed us which discs had herniated, pointed to where the herniation was pressing on the nerves, and clearly explained how the pressure on those nerves was manifesting as pain in different parts of my legs and my lower back. Not only did he display a thorough understanding of my condition, but he also had a proposal to alleviate the pain. The procedure he proposed was a minimally invasive lumbar microdecompression. He detailed in clear terms exactly how the process gets performed, and answered a long list of questions my wife and I had brought with us. He also invited us to visit the Reconstructive Orthopedics website to see a graphic illustration of the procedure (which I would recommend to anyone having this procedure). By the end of the consultation, my wife and I were so impressed with him that I immediately and enthusiastically selected him as my surgeon. My strong recommendation of Dr. Greenleaf extends beyond his evident surgical skills. By the time I first met with him, I had been, living with increasing pain for several months. He seemed acutely aware of the pain I was enduring and the severe impact it had on my quality of life. I know for a fact that he went out of his way to perform the surgery on an expedited basis, finding a spot in his and the surgical center’s/hospital’s schedules so that he could play the medicine as soon as possible. And after the surgery, Dr. Greenleaf did not rely only on his staff or even his very attentive and able physician’s assistant, Colleen, to follow up with me to see how I was feeling; the first phone call I received while I was convalescing was from Dr. Greenleaf. I will always remember his genuine and sincere compassion. Parenthetically, I had my first meeting with Dr. Greenleaf, the pre-op tests and completed the surgery all before the first date the other doctor I intended to consult for a second opinion could even see me for an initial consultation. I have returned to work and my routine, and I am thrilled to say that a few months after the surgery, I have been able to go kayaking again. Before my surgery, I wondered if I would ever kayak back. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Dr. Greenleaf for anyone who needs back surgery.”

“Dr. Greenleaf performed my back surgery two years ago, so happy that I connected with him. He is an excellent surgeon. He is easy to talk to and explain your problem, too; he listens and solves. I recently went back to him because of back pain. He addressed the issue, and I am on my way to feeling better, without surgery. I tell everyone I know about this man, he is the best.”

“Dr. Greenleaf was wonderful. I had spinal stenosis in the lumbar spine, nerve pain down my legs and difficulty walking. I had been coming to the practice for a few years to take care of these issues. I did PT and worked with a chiropractor for some years. It helped for a few years, but it steadily got worse. Dr. Greenleaf performed surgery, and it has made a massive difference in my life. I can walk without pain and discomfort. The nerve pain has lessened. He was willing to answer any questions that I had, or my family had. He made me feel very secure in his ability and was very kind.”

“Dr. Greenleaf is an excellent surgeon. I’m able to stand up straight after being bent for several years. He takes the time to listen and answer questions and provide specific details. He will point out changes on the x-rays. I’m aware that some patients don’t want a lot of detail, but as a retired RN I do.”

“Dr. Greenleaf, I'm not sure how to describe my experience. Let me start by saying when I arrived the pain was almost unbearable, not realizing I was on a medication that would lower my immune system and it was eating my bones and attacking my spine and neck. Dr. Greenleaf “GOD” saved my life while I was clinging on to the life he took the time to give my wife his cell number to answer any questions she might have. After saving my life when I was in the long process of recovery, his staff guided me through the everyday problems I would be greeted with while I was healing, including who to talk to for disability this was a big help since I was never unemployed or out on disability. Even while I was going through hell, he and his staff made it as good as it could have been under the circumstances.”

“I came in to the emergency room not knowing what was wrong with me only to find out I had an infection that was attacking my spine and neck. Lucky for me Dr. Greenleaf was on duty that night because he saved my life. He operated that night and then two days later to remove the infection, put metal rods in my back and rebuild the bones in my neck with a metal cage. During this ordeal he gave my wife his cell number so he could give her updates when she couldn’t be there to put her at ease. Words cannot describe how much I feel I owe this man. I am here today because of Dr. Greenleaf.”

“Dr. Greenleaf is my hero! With a minimally invasive laminectomy almost a year ago, he cured my agonizing and incapacitating sciatica! He told me it would take about a year to fully rehab, and here it is 11months later, and now I have been able to start running again, PAIN FREE!!! I feel like I can never really thank him enough! He is a wonderful surgeon, and just as important, a kind and patient man!”

“I can't thank Dr. Greenleaf or his staff enough for their caring and compassion prior, during and after my back surgery. Dr. Greenleaf explained my procedure clearly, gave me both the positive and possible negatives I might encounter. Well I have only had positives. I feel so much better most of the pain is gone and it is only just over six weeks since my surgery. He and his staff were always quick to get back to me with answers to my questions. I have had previous experience with Reconstructive Orthopedics, and have always had positive experiences with the practice and the doctors. I always recommend Reconstructive Orthopedics people. All of my experiences have been positive.”
